MWI IN ACTION

Manitoba Women’s Institute was recipient of a Nellie McClung Foundation Manitoba Trailblazer Award in 2021.

Each year we have a Made in Manitoba project which we support a Manitoba organization. Our project this year is to support MAWS, the Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters.

Manitoba Women’s Institute offers Zoom sessions with topics such as gardening, composting, human trafficking, finance and budgeting and many more! On May 1st, 2021, we had our first ever MWI Women’s Day via Zoom, the first of a series of Zoom education sessions.

Did you know? MWI members volunteered around 11,000 hours in 2020.

MWI has members who have been with our organization for over 60 years!

Local MWI institutes contributed to the following in 2022/23: Education on personal development and the environment, family, ag, and community; volunteering at local events; monetary donations to local causes; maintaining WI parks; catering at local events; book collection for the Children’s Hospital; support or fundraising for causes such as The Brandon Bear Clan, Samaritan House, food banks and seniors homes.

MWI awards two scholarships through the Red River Ex Foundation every year.

MWI local institutes contribute to Pennies for Friendship, which is used to fund ACWW programs across the world.

There are WI’s in Manitoba that have reached the 100-year benchmark.
